Winter is CA's primary rain season.  The rain in winter is very important here and accounts for a majority of the yearly water supply.  The reason is very simple.  CA's weather climate is similar to Mediterranean, dry and lacks moisture.  It won't snow in temperatures below zero unless it rains.  The rain in winter will produce snow in mountains and pile up.  The snow will melt gradually when weather warms up producing a constant water supply.

CA has been in drought for several years because winter rain fall was lower than historic average.  This winter improved a little bit.  It only rained about 2 times in November and it has rained every other day since last week.  It also means good news for skiing.

Here, we have to ski in the mountains area because ground level is always warm.  It will be at least 2~3 hours drive to the nearest ski resort.  My friend learned a lesson last year.  It only rained few times last winter.  It happened to rain on a Friday.  Of course, there has a lot of new snow at night and next day, Saturday, causing excellent conditions for skiing.  My friend got up very early next day like 5:30AM and left at 6AM.  But he had to turn around and go home in midway.  He stuck in mountain highway for several hours becasuse too many cars jammed the route.  It was Saturday and everyone was free to go.  I must go this season and in weekday, not weekend to avoid the crowd.  Hope nothing unexpected will happen and interrupt my schedule.  And I have to remember to bring my digital camera.  Last year I forgot and bought a disposable (fool's) camera at resort.  Therefore I didn't have any digital format picture to post on Web.

There is a side story.  I have a Caucasian customer in Wisconsin which is located near Canada.  Recently he teases me and asks me whether I can go to his place to help him plow the snow.  Since last week, his area has been in a heavy snow storm and he has to remove the snow everyday otherwise next morning he probably can't get out of his house.  He is sick and tired of seeing snow.  I told him I have to go to mountain area in order to ski.  He said his town has a lot snow every year.  It has at least 2 feet of snow and difficult to walk.  He doesn't have to drive 2 hours to ski resort.  Another teasing!!  I have done business with him for 2 years but never met with face to face.  I should visit him some day.

I have called this company for about 1 year before their purchasing staff became interested in me.  His staff told me that I have to talk to his Vice President who is the only son of the owners and in charge of overall purchasing and sales.  As time went by, we did several deals and got familiar with each other.  One day out of blue during chatting, he told me his wife is his high school sweetheart and married her after college graduation.  Then 1 minute later even with bigger shock, he told me his wife is a Vietnam descendant and her parents are refugee sent to here under government humanitarian aid in 70s.  Her parents now live in FL because they can't take the cold weather anymore.  There are about 3 states, CA, HI and FL have the best weather all year around and don't snow in the winter compared with the rest of the country.

Westerners are very care about their privacy.  They will not be happy if you ask them personal issue unless they bring up the issue voluntarily.  We both have some link to Asia heritage.  Maybe it is why he has been friendly to me and become closed friends.  Ok!  I am off the topic too much by now.
